Surely you have already heard that, in order to be successful, every brand needs a logo, and although it is hard to believe, it is a reality. And why is it so important? Well, the answer is simple, it is the most recognizable element of your brand.
Nowadays, we use the word logo to refer to any graphic representation of a brand, whether it is an icon, a text or a mixture of both, with the main purpose of being remembered.
In general, there are 4 "logo names" or types of logos: logotype, imagotype, isotype and isologotype.
- Logo: It is a graphic representation composed only of letters (Example: Zara, Disney, Coca-Cola).
- Imagotipo: It is composed of a pictographic element and a textual element (Example: Adidas, Kyocera).
- Isologo: It is similar to the logo, the difference is that both elements are unified in the same image (Example: NASA, Burger King).
- Isotype: It is a visual representation, consisting only of an image that can be recognized with the naked eye (Example: Apple, Twitter, Volkswagen).
THE IMPORTANCE OF DESIGNING A QUALITY LOGO
Designing a logo seems to be a simple, easy and quick task, but behind a quality design there is a whole process and it has its difficulty. On many occasions we have heard that the first impression is what counts, and in the case of a logo this is a very accurate phrase since it only takes 7 seconds for a person to form an opinion about a brand.
Something important to bear in mind is that the design of a logo does not consist only of beautiful letters and geometric figures, you must consider that it is the visual identity of a brand and a quality design influences the customer's perception of the brand, their purchase decisions and their attitude towards a product. The colors or fonts chosen reflect the history, values and/or mission of the brand.
A good logo must inspire trust, recognition and will differentiate you from the competition. If a logo does not have a quality design, it may generate a feeling of distrust and lack of seriousness.
Likewise, it is important to consider that the logo is an essential part of the branding of a company and is the basis on which the brand is established, since it is the letter of introduction of a brand and a fundamental pillar in the communication and marketing strategies. The logo will always be present in the advertising material, in the packaging of the merchandise, on the website and in the social networks.
Remember that logos have to be unique, simple and timeless.
